Utilizing donated embryos is a method of overcoming infertility from virtually any cause. As long as the woman has a womb she has an approximate 25% live birth rate per attempt with donated embryos. This treatment is less costly than donor eggs and is ideally suited for couples consisting of a woman who lacks quality eggs and a man without viable sperm.
The embryos are donated by couples who have undergone In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) at our center and have chosen to have excess embryos cryopreserved. The couples have completed their family building, yet still have embryos left over. The couples have expressly consented to donating their spare frozen embryos to anonymous couples struggling with infertility.
Infertile couples interested in the donor embryo service can review the medical history of the donating couples (lacking identifying information) to choose their set of embryos. Typically three (3) or more of the embryos are thawed to allow up to three viable embryos to be placed into the recipient’s womb. On average, 75% of embryos survive the thawing process. Our team of physicians and nurses will help guide the recipient couple through the process of choosing embryos and preparing the woman’s womb hormonally for the arrival of the embryos.
